This is an image created after a three day exposure using a pin hole camera. The idea is to track the passage of the sun through the sky, and over longer exposures, to see the different heights the sun reaches in relation to the seasons. I was introduced to the idea through the solargraphy project, which is the work of Tarja Trygg, who is recording the results of can assistants from around the world.
Interestingly, all that is required besides a pin hole camera is black and white photosensitive paper. The odd part is that not only is the final exposure in color, but it doesn’t even have to be developed. I scanned the negative, inverted and horizontally flipped the image, and here it is!
I have longer exposures in the works using larger paint can cameras of which I am looking forward to the results.
