In moving the website over, I have been manually sorting through each old post. This could be automated, but it is kind of relaxing and serves as a time capsule.
I have found first hand just how intense link rot is. The most stable links are wikipedia, youtube, and major news outlets. Beyond those I would estimate a >50% attrition rate.
It would be cool to have some sort of standardized grading system to capture how reliable and hearty a website is. It would be very easy to calculate a score.
I am of course guilty of the same link rot because in moving to a static website generator the URL format is entirely different. Oh well. I am fixing internal links. I would at least score well for longevity.
