I went to Nevada and Arizona with my family. The Hoover Dam is really incredible, especially given that it was built in the 1930s. The inside design and the outside monuments have a Bioshock feel- probably the other way around. Unfortunately due to September 11th we were unable to tour much of the interior.
That bridge will open later this year and will greatly alleviate the hour long traffic caused by the “security check” that everyone must pass through in order to cross over the Dam’s one lane highway. It also looks cool.
We were told the Dam would be unable to meet electricity demands if the water level fell an additional five inches, and Lake Mead already isn’t meeting water demands.
